AIGP (Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional)
AIGP tests knowledge of AI governance: AI concepts and risks, how privacy, consumer protection and AI-specific laws, standards and frameworks apply to AI, and governance of AI development and deployment across the AI life cycle. The IAPP intends it for anyone responsible for adopting or managing AI in an organization, in any sector.
Exam Details
Computer-based exam at Pearson VUE test centers or through OnVUE online proctoring, with an optional 15-minute break at the halfway point. Some questions are scenario-based, and some have more than one correct answer.
Non-member price. IAPP members pay US$649. For non-members, the exam fee includes the certification maintenance fee for the first term. Candidates who already hold an IAPP certification, and candidates retaking a failed exam, receive a discounted price.
Requirements and Renewal
Prerequisites
No experience or prior certification is required to purchase the exam. The IAPP recommends at least 30 hours of training and study, and the exam must be taken within one year of purchase.
Renewal
Submit 20 CPE credits per two-year term that correspond to the AIGP Body of Knowledge. Holders must also either pay the US$250 certification maintenance fee for the term or hold an IAPP membership (US$295 a year).

How much does the AIGP exam cost?→
The IAPP store prices the AIGP exam at US$799 for non-members and US$649 for members. Retakes, and exams for people who already hold an IAPP certification, are discounted.
How long is the AIGP exam?→
Candidates get 2.75 hours for 100 questions, with a 15-minute break. A score of 300 on the IAPP scale of 100 to 500 is required to pass.
How long is AIGP valid?→
Each certification term runs two years, starting the day after the exam is passed. Renewal requires 20 CPE credits per term plus either the certification maintenance fee or an IAPP membership.
Which version of the AIGP Body of Knowledge applies?→
Version 2.1, effective 2 February 2026. The IAPP reviews the BoK every year and announces changes at least 90 days before they appear on the exam.
